Swine flu

This swine flu thing is really getting to me. The media coverage is all about how many people have it, how many have died, where is it going to go next, etc. The stories I've seen haven't talked about what it actually is, how you get it, how dangerous it is, the symptoms, etc. It's like the coverage of a political race where all they talk about is who's in the lead instead of what the issues are. That's not to say that there isn't any coverage of the practical issues, but it's far outweighed by articles stoking fear.

I couldn't agree with you more! I'm soooooo sick of all the news coverage. Especially here in California where they've had a couple cases. I mean, this is just another flu! People are wearing masks. It's just dumb. They've closed some schools because of it. A couple months ago if a kid was off for a few days from school and came back and said "oh I was out with the flu", people just say "oh bummer". They don't go close the school for that. Why are people flipping out about about this? I just don't get it. The news loves to dramatize everything.
